Nova | Mandrel (Field-Tested)
The Nova | Mandrel (Field-Tested, FT) is a Consumer Grade shotgun skin carrying a grayscale hydrographic of interweaving pipes. Field-Tested is the middle grade of the finish, with a touch of honest wear at a budget price.
Design
Mandrel dresses the Nova in a grayscale hydrographic of interlocking pipes, a monochrome, industrial look that trades color for texture. Valve built the finish, and it comes with the fitting in-game line "Shaping rounds with each shot," a nod to the mechanical theme of the pattern.
Nova | Mandrel (Field-Tested) Float and Wear
The finish caps at 0.50 float, and Field-Tested lands in the middle of that band. At this grade you'll notice light scratching along the edges and receiver, but the gray pipe pattern holds up and stays readable — the sweet spot most players picture between condition and cost.
Nova | Mandrel Rarity
Rarity: Consumer Grade — the white grade, the most common tier in the standard weapon lineup. Its entry-level rarity is exactly why the finish stays so cheap across every wear.
Nova | Mandrel Case and Collection
This finish comes from The 2018 Nuke Collection, released with the FACEIT 2018 update in September 2018. There's no weapon case behind it — regular copies enter the economy through collection drops and trade-ups rather than unboxing, keeping market supply consistent.
Nova | Mandrel Patterns
Because the pipe hydrographic is placed identically on each copy, this finish has no random pattern variation — nothing resembling a paint seed or blue-gem to seek out. The only differences between copies come down to wear grade and float.
StatTrak & Souvenir
The finish comes in a regular and a Souvenir version, though no StatTrak edition exists — StatTrak is a case-minted feature, and this collection skin was never sold in a case. Souvenir copies originate from Major-tournament packages, first the London 2018 Nuke Souvenir Package and then several later Major souvenir packages.
Nova | Mandrel Price
Field-Tested is the value pick of the range — cheaper than the higher grades while keeping the pipe pattern legible — and because the whole finish is budget-tier, it's about as affordable as a Nova skin gets. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.
FAQ
Does the Field-Tested Mandrel look worn?
A little. Expect light scratching around the edges and receiver, but the grayscale pipe pattern masks minor wear well and stays clearly readable. It's not spotless like the top grades, yet at normal viewing distance the industrial look holds together and the design remains easy to make out.
Is Field-Tested the smart buy on the Mandrel?
For most budgets, yes. It costs less than Minimal Wear (MW) and Factory New (FN) while keeping the pipe pattern intact, so you get the design for less. Well-Worn (WW) and Battle-Scarred (BS) are cheaper still if you don't mind heavier scuffing, but Field-Tested balances looks and price.
Where do regular Mandrel copies come from?
They're collection drops from The 2018 Nuke Collection, or the output of trade-up contracts. Since the finish has no weapon case, you won't unbox one — you'll either receive it as a random drop or trade up into it, then most players buy from the market for the wear they want.
