USP-S | Check Engine (Minimal Wear)

The USP-S | Check Engine (Minimal Wear) is a Mil-Spec pistol skin with a bold red body and a sprayed red mesh pattern, one grade down from the top. It keeps the color vivid and the wear barely noticeable, at a friendlier price than Factory New.

Design

At its heart the finish is a single loud idea: a bold red base spray-painted with a red mesh pattern, a Valve design that trades detailed artwork for one saturated color. It also ships with a fitting in-game quip — "You should have that looked at…" — playing on the dashboard warning behind the name.

USP-S | Check Engine (Minimal Wear) Float and Wear

Minimal Wear sits just above Factory New on the finish's 0.00–0.60 float scale. The red stays richly saturated and the mesh remains legible, with only the faintest edge wear showing up on close inspection. Since a bright base like this reveals scratches more than a dark one, the light touch of Minimal Wear still reads as a well-kept copy at a glance.

USP-S | Check Engine Rarity

Rarity: Mil-Spec Grade, the blue tier. That's the entry grade of standard weapon skins and the most common rarity in circulation, which keeps the finish easy to pick up.

USP-S | Check Engine Case and Collection

This finish is part of The 2018 Inferno Collection, which arrived alongside the FACEIT 2018 update in September 2018. Within the collection's Inferno Souvenir Packages the Mil-Spec tier is the everyday drop, unboxing at roughly 79.92% (that figure is shared across the tier's skins), so the market supplies most of the copies traded today.

USP-S | Check Engine Patterns

No random pattern variation applies here — the mesh lands identically on each copy, meaning there's no paint seed or "blue gem" worth tracking down. The only real differences between copies come down to wear and float.

StatTrak & Souvenir

A StatTrak version doesn't exist for this skin. Because StatTrak weapons are produced only inside weapon cases and the Check Engine has never been part of one, no kill-counter variant was ever made — it reaches players through souvenir packages instead. A Souvenir edition is out there, though, coming from the Inferno Souvenir Packages at Majors, starting with the London 2018 package.

USP-S | Check Engine Price

Minimal Wear lands one rung below Factory New on the price ladder while looking nearly as good, which makes it a smart middle ground. It's an affordable mid-tier finish either way, so the step down mostly saves you money rather than costing much in appearance. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.

FAQ

How does Minimal Wear compare to Factory New?

Very closely. Minimal Wear keeps the red saturated and the mesh sharp, with only faint edge wear that most players won't notice in-game. Factory New is flawless and pricier; Minimal Wear gives you nearly the same look for less, which makes it a popular value choice on this finish.

Is there a Souvenir Check Engine?

Yes. Souvenir copies drop from the Inferno Souvenir Packages awarded at Majors, first seen with the London 2018 package. They're a separate collectible variant from the standard skin and tend to be scarcer, since they only appear tied to those tournament packages rather than through normal trading supply.

Does the red base show wear at Minimal Wear?

Only slightly. A bright red surface reveals scratches more than a dark one, but at Minimal Wear the damage is limited to faint edge marks that don't disturb the overall color. You'd need to look closely to spot it, so the finish still presents as a fresh, vivid copy.
