The MP5-SD | Gauss (Battle-Scarred, BS) is the most heavily worn version of this stamped-steel finish. It's the cheapest entry point into a premium, Restricted-tier skin, for buyers who value the design more than a clean surface.
Design
Gray panels styled to look like stamped, pieced-together steel define the Gauss, a design from Millenia that trades a smooth paint job for a rougher, sci-fi sheet-metal identity. It's earned the community nickname "SpaceGat 2000," which carries through at every wear grade.
MP5-SD | Gauss (Battle-Scarred) Float and Wear
Float on this finish spans the full 0.00 to 1.00 range, and Battle-Scarred sits at the very top of it. Since Gauss isn't float-capped, this grade reaches the maximum extent of wear a skin can show — heavy scratching and dulled paint across the stamped-steel panels, with the layout still visible but noticeably rougher.
MP5-SD | Gauss Rarity
Rarity: Restricted, the purple tier, sitting above Mil-Spec Grade and below Classified and Covert. Even at this worn grade, it's a genuinely uncommon skin to come across.
MP5-SD | Gauss Case and Collection
This finish belongs to The Prisma Collection and comes out of the Prisma Case, first released in March 2019. As a Restricted finish, it drops at roughly 15.98% from that case, well below the common Mil-Spec rate.

Yes — it's the lowest grade on the price ladder, cheaper than Well-Worn (WW), Field-Tested (FT), Minimal Wear (MW), and Factory New (FN). It's the most accessible way into this otherwise premium, Restricted-tier finish.
Does heavy wear ruin the stamped-steel look?
Not entirely — the panel-like layout is still distinguishable even under heavy scratching, since the design relies on distinct steel plates rather than fine detail that would disappear with wear.
Why does Battle-Scarred reach such rough condition on the Gauss?
Because the finish isn't float-capped and runs the full 0.00–1.00 range, Battle-Scarred copies can land at the extreme high end of wear, unlike finishes that are capped below 1.00 and stay milder even at their worst grade.
