Is Cache Released in CS2?
Yes, Valve has released an update with the new Cache rework, adding the map to CS2 Competitive, Casual, Deathmatch, and Retakes modes on 28th of April, 2026. The map was a staple of Counter-Strike from its addition to the Active Duty pool in 2014 through its removal in 2019.
After years of community anticipation and teasers from the original creator, FMPONE, the map was integrated into the game in a major update that coincided with the 40th anniversary week of the Chernobyl disaster.
This version is a full "built-from-the-ground-up" remake. It features a cleaner, more overgrown Pripyat aesthetic with significantly improved lighting and visibility. Valve also made minor layout adjustments to "Mid" and "B-Site" to better suit the Source 2 physics engine.

Is Cache Available in Premier Mode?
No, Cache isn't avaliable in Premier Mode yet. This is because Premier Mode specifically utilizes the Active Duty map pool, which is a rotating selection of seven maps designated for professional competitive play. Until a map rotation occurs where Cache replaces an existing entry—such as Mirage or Vertigo—it remains restricted to the Competitive (Classic), Casual, and Community Workshop modes, where players can still enjoy it outside of the Premier ranking system.
When Will Cache Be Available on Faceit?

As of April 15, the voting is in its final hours. The latest updates from earlier this week showed Cache in a massive lead, with over 190,000 votes cast. If Cache wins (which is almost certain), it will be added to the FACEIT pool on April 22. It will be "Elo-enabled" but optional, you’ll be able to toggle it off if you’re not ready to deal with the new lineups just yet.
Season 8 also brings a soft Elo reset, meaning everyone will have to play 10 placement matches to reveal their new rank.
Why Was Cache Removed from Counter-Strike?
Cache was removed from the Active Map pool in March 2019, when it was replaced by Vertigo. This was done to freshen up the map pool. At the time, Cache was played in all CS:GO Majors from 2014 through 2019. In September 2019, during ESL One: New York, FMPONE introduced the updated version of his map. It featured new lighting and textures, updated visuals for better clarity, and minor layout tweaks to balance gameplay.
But it was never added back to the Active Map pool, so Cache has not been playable on the competitive scene for the last six years, except for some show matches at LAN events.
What Happened to CS2 Cache compared to CS:GO?
There are no major changes in Cache map between CS:GO and CS2 versions. FMPONE changed the color palette, so it reminds more of the original version of the map before 2019.
There is no more window in mid-CT, but now we have a small gap for smokes and flashes, which can be used by both sides.
Without any doubt, the most important change is the absence of s1mple graffiti under Haven on the B site. It was added to the game after an incredible highlight in the semifinal of ESL One Cologne 2016 between Team Liquid and Fnatic. s1mple jumped down from Haven and hit two no-scopes, winning the round for his team.

The same happened in 2019 when FMPONE released the updated version of Cache in CS:GO. On the day of release, fans didn’t find the s1mple graffiti, but it was added to the map later. It’s still unknown if this legendary moment will be back in CS2 Cache version.
