Counter-Strike is known for an extremely active and creative modders community. Players create their own weapon skins, stickers, and even maps and then send them to Steam Workshop. Some of the best community-made maps became the cornerstone of the franchise, including maps like Cache, Dust 2, Tuscan and many more. However, considering how rarely Valve makes changes in the official map pool, there is an uncharted territory of incredible maps hidden in the Workshop. This Skin.Land guide will walk you through everything you need to know about CS2 Workshop maps, from understanding how to download them to playing them with friends.

What are CS2 Workshop Maps?

Workshop maps in CS2 are custom-made levels created by community modders and level-designers and applied to Steam Workshop where they can be downloaded later. CS2 custom maps vary in terms of quality – while some can be pretty visually simplistic, others can be incredibly detailed picturesque wonders of level-design, like Palais and Thera (ex-Santorini).

Custom maps offer a wide range of game modes, including regular defusal maps, aim training, surf maps and even obstacle courses. What’s even more important about these maps, is that the best maps that fit the game perfectly, can be adopted into the official map pool and creators can get a check of their lifetime.

  • Launch CS2 and then press Play from the main menu

  • Select Workshop Maps option

  • You’ll be greeted with a selection of maps you’ve subscribed to

  • Select a map from the list and select a game mode you want to play

Some maps are pretty outdated and may not give you an opportunity to play with bots or your pals. Also, make sure to avoid maps with bad rating and bad reviews, as there’s always a tiny possibility of catching malware via map assets.
