The Nova | Sand Dune (Battle-Scarred) is a Consumer Grade Nova skin in a desert color scheme, worn down to its roughest available condition. Battle-Scarred is the cheapest grade, trading a battered surface for the lowest entry price into the finish.

Design

At heart the finish is a stripped-back tactical paint: the Nova's individual parts done in solid block colors following a sand dune scheme, all desert grays and tans, no graphics anywhere. It's a Valve design, and it comes with the fiction line "With Turner dead, we have a new priority: rescue Alex Kincaide."

Nova | Sand Dune (Battle-Scarred) Float and Wear

This finish is float-capped at 0.80 rather than the full 1.0, so even Battle-Scarred — the top of its 0.06–0.80 range — never reaches the most extreme wear a normal skin can show. Expect heavy scuffing and broad paint loss across the body, but the desert scheme stays legible thanks to that cap and its already-matte base.

Yes. Despite the heavy scuffing, the flat sand-and-gray scheme keeps the skin clearly readable in-game — it never turns into an unrecognizable mess. Battle-Scarred is about accepting the most visible wear the finish offers in exchange for the lowest price, not losing the desert look entirely.

Why doesn't the Battle-Scarred version look completely destroyed?

Because the finish is capped at 0.80 rather than 1.0, its Battle-Scarred copies stop short of the extreme end of the wear scale. Paired with a matte base that already hides damage well, the result is a grade that's clearly weathered but stays more legible than a full-range skin would at the same label.

Should I buy Battle-Scarred or spend more for a cleaner grade?

It depends on your goal. If you just want the Sand Dune design for as little as possible and don't mind visible wear, Battle-Scarred is the pick.
