The SCAR-20 | Grotto (Battle-Scarred) is a Mil-Spec autosniper skin in sponged blue metallic paints, in its most heavily worn condition. It's the cheapest way into the blue finish, trading surface condition for the lowest entry price.

Design

The finish leads with its blue paintwork: sponged and brush-painted metallic effect paints, their mottled blue muted by heavy wear at this grade. Designed by the community artist Algis, it ships with an in-game line: "The founder of Season Corporation had this piece commissioned after being rescued by renowned Operator Kotaro Izaki."

SCAR-20 | Grotto (Battle-Scarred) Float and Wear

This finish is float-capped at 0.50 rather than the full 1.00, so even Battle-Scarred — the top of its float range — stays much milder than a fully-worn skin and never gets close to the extreme end of the scale. At this grade the blue paints wear their damage openly, with heavy scuffing and paint loss across the body, though the sponged pattern remains readable.

SCAR-20 | Grotto Rarity

Rarity: Mil-Spec Grade — the entry blue tier of the standard weapon grades. As the most common colored grade, it keeps this finish very cheap to own.

SCAR-20 | Grotto Case and Collection

The Grotto is part of The Chroma Collection and is unboxed from the Chroma Case, released in January 2015. The Mil-Spec tier drops at roughly 79.92% from the case (the rate is shared across the tier's skins), making it the grade you'll pull most often — the market, in turn, is well-stocked.

Since the sponged blue design is fixed on every copy, this finish has no random pattern variation — nothing like a paint seed or "blue gem" to hunt for. Wear and float are all that separate one copy from the next.

StatTrak & Souvenir

You can also find a StatTrak Grotto, which adds a confirmed-kill counter; it's rarer and pricier than the standard drop, and the counter is permanent, following the item through every trade or sale without ever getting wiped. There's no Souvenir edition — Souvenir weapons come only from Major-tournament packages, and this finish never featured in one.

Is the Battle-Scarred Grotto still recognizable?

Yes. Despite the heavy scuffing and lost shimmer, the deep blue keeps the sponged pattern readable at a glance in-game. And because the float is capped at 0.50, this grade never reaches the most extreme wear, so it stays a lot more legible than full-range skins do at Battle-Scarred.

Why doesn't the Battle-Scarred version look completely destroyed?

Because the finish is float-capped at 0.50 instead of the full 1.00, its Battle-Scarred copies land only halfway up the wear scale — well short of the worst it could allow. The blue loses its shine and picks up heavy scuffs, but the paintwork stays clearer here than most Battle-Scarred skins.

Is there a StatTrak Battle-Scarred Grotto?

Yes. The StatTrak edition exists at this grade too, wearing the same heavily worn blue paintwork with a kill counter on the model. It's a rarer, more expensive drop than the standard Battle-Scarred copy, and its counter tallies confirmed kills permanently, never getting wiped when traded or sold.
