XM1014 | Ancient Lore (Battle-Scarred)

The XM1014 | Ancient Lore (Battle-Scarred) is a Restricted shotgun skin wearing its green, beige and red tile pattern in its most weathered condition. It's the cheapest way into the historical mosaic look, trading surface polish for the lowest entry price.

Design

Ancient Lore wraps the shotgun in a mosaic of ancient tiles worked in muted green, beige and red — an artful, heritage-themed finish that stands apart from typical camo patterns. Valve designed it, and it's accompanied by a resonant in-game line: "Hope remains, even for those who began their journey down the wrong path."

XM1014 | Ancient Lore (Battle-Scarred) Float and Wear

Battle-Scarred sits at the top of the finish's float range, which is capped at 0.50 rather than the full 1.0. Because of that cap, even the roughest copies never reach the most extreme wear — the damage is heavy, with clear scratching and faded color, but the tile pattern stays readable and the skin doesn't look completely trashed.

XM1014 | Ancient Lore Rarity

Rarity: Restricted — the purple tier, ranked just below Classified and one step above Mil-Spec among the standard weapon grades. It's an uncommon grade to come across.

XM1014 | Ancient Lore Case and Collection

This finish is drawn from The Ancient Collection, which entered the game with Operation Broken Fang in December 2020. It has no case behind it — regular copies arrive through collection drops and trade-ups, so supply reflects how much the collection was farmed while it was current.

XM1014 | Ancient Lore Patterns

Since the tile design is fixed, the paint-seed number has no effect on the look, and there's nothing like a blue-gem roll to seek. Every copy shows the mosaic identically, leaving wear and float as the sole points of difference between them.

StatTrak & Souvenir

A StatTrak edition doesn't exist for this finish, since StatTrak is only minted in weapon cases and this skin never dropped from one. It does come as both a regular and a Souvenir finish, the Souvenir copies given out at Majors — the Stockholm 2021 Ancient Souvenir Package was the first, with later Major souvenir packages adding more.

XM1014 | Ancient Lore Price

Battle-Scarred is the cheapest grade of this finish — the entry-level route to the mosaic design for players who care more about the artwork than a clean surface. If you want an Ancient Lore for as little as possible, this is the way in. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.

FAQ

Is the Battle-Scarred Ancient Lore still recognizable?

Yes. Despite heavy scuffing and dulled color, the green-and-red tile mosaic keeps the design clearly readable at a glance in-game. Battle-Scarred is about accepting visible wear for the lowest price, and the busy pattern means the finish never loses its identity entirely.

Why doesn't the Battle-Scarred Ancient Lore look fully destroyed?

Because the finish is float-capped at 0.50 instead of the usual 1.0, its Battle-Scarred copies never reach the most extreme end of the wear scale. Paired with a dense multi-color pattern that masks damage, the skin stays more legible here than many lighter, plainer finishes do at this grade.

Is Battle-Scarred the right pick for a budget loadout?

It can be. If you want the historical tile look without spending on condition, Battle-Scarred gives you the full design for the lowest price in the range. The trade-off is visible wear and slightly muted colors, which most budget-focused players find an easy compromise for the savings.
