The Ancient is currently one of the most popular and beloved maps in active CS2 roster, thanks to its well-thought layout and a nostalgic design inspired by the legendary de_aztec. The map is unique and filled with many pathways, allowing players to execute a bomb site attack in a swift manner or in a calm and collected utility-driven retake. Ancient was introduced to CS:GO in December 2023, as part of the Operation Broken Fang update, replacing Train in the Active Duty Map pool. The instant you appear on the map, the nostalgic vibes of nights spent on Aztec in 1.6 become unavoidable. Aside from the stunning visuals of the map, it has also undergone quite a few changes and tweaks in order to improve competitive balance for both ordinary players and professional players alike. It is extremely important to know all the calls you receive and give while playing Ancient, as the map can be quite overwhelming with its recognizable fast pushes and slow utility-driven tactical retakes.

Ancient A Site

The A Site on Ancient is much larger and more open than its counterpart. There are a few hideouts with lots of open area to execute fast pushes. Some players find it more difficult to defend as opposed to the defense of B. Let’s look at the key callouts on A Site.

  • Elbow: L-shaped corridor used by T players to enter Mid

How to Use All Ancient Callouts in 2025?

There are no stipulations when it comes to using callouts. Just be precise, clear and fast while giving the names of locations. It’s better to give a concise info like: “one Dark, low” instead of dedicating a poem to your teammates on how unfair it is that the enemy player killed you while totally hacking. You can also specify which weapon the enemy has, if you weren’t killed by the enemy AWP, you should let your teammates know that the enemy has one so that they can be more careful or use utilities. While receiving information, don’t concentrate on a single callout received some time ago, as the enemy players are constantly moving and you might miss their push. Also, try to predict where the enemy players will be based on the information your teammates provide you with. Use your knowledge on Ancient map callouts CS2 to the best extent of your possibilities.

What are the Best Weapons for Ancient Callouts in CS2?

Some weapons stand out particularly good when it comes to control on Ancient. In order to control Mid, make sure to practice your AWP shooting. Getting a well-fitting skin like AWP | Atheris might be a good investment if you’re a frequent Ancient enjoyer.

For mid control, it is also extremely useful to master SG 553 and AUG. Even though these weapons aren’t particularly popular with high-elo players, no one can deny their usefulness when covering Mid control from Snipers Nest. Aside from the AWP and scoped rifles, you should also try practicing Dualies and USP-S, as these two pistols are particularly good on Ancient. By mastering these callouts and understanding the strategic nuances of the map, you'll be useful with any weapon and play a key position in any game.
