What are Null Binds in CS2?
In CS2, null binds are custom keybindings that essentially “disable” a default action or remove its effect, allowing players to reassign that key for a different purpose or prevent unintended inputs. For example, you could bind a key so that pressing it doesn’t perform any in-game action, which can be useful for preventing accidental movements or misclicks during tense moments. Null binds are mostly used by advanced players to streamline gameplay, execute complex strategies, or create more precise control setups.
Are Null Binds Allowed or Bannable in CS2 in 2026?
Null binds are prohibited in CS2's official matchmaking and competitive play. It was dictated by Valve on August 19, 2024. The update introduced measures to detect and kick players using input automation, including null binds, from official servers
Hardware-assisted features, such as Razer's Snap Tap and Wooting's analog input, are also banned in official CS2 play due to their potential to provide unfair advantages.
A little bit different situation on Faceit, the popular third-party platform. You can use null binds here, but they’re still banned on the pro scene. So it’s actually no sense to use them if you want to become an esports player one day.
How to Set Up and Use Null Binds in CS2?
Firstly, you should enable your in-game console. Check our guide here.
Then there are two ways in which you can set up null binds: through the console or just straight autoxec.cfg.
For example, you want to bind a jump on your middle mouse button, type this in console
“bind "MOUSE3" "+jump"
Another method: open the in-game file “Steam\steamapps\common\CS2\cs2\cfg”, then type bind commands and save the file.
How to Remove and Disable CS2 Null Binds
If you don’t wanna get banned in CS2, remove and disable null binds in the game.
To do this open the console and type unbind. For example, you had “+jump” on “R”, so you need to use this command:
unbind "R"
If you want to remove all custom binds (including null binds), type in the console:
exec default.cfg
If you’ve added null binds to your autoexec.cfg:
Open the file: Steam\steamapps\common\CS2\cs2\cfg
Delete the lines containing your null binds
Save the file and restart CS2.
