The Nova | Walnut (Battle-Scarred) is a Consumer Grade Nova skin with a figured walnut wood stock in warm brown, worn down to its roughest available condition. Battle-Scarred is the cheapest grade, trading a battered surface for the lowest entry price into the finish.

Design

At heart the finish is a classic wood look: a figured walnut stock in warm brown tones giving the Nova the character of an old-school wood-stocked shotgun, no graphics anywhere. It's a Valve design that relies entirely on natural grain rather than any decal or printed pattern.

Nova | Walnut (Battle-Scarred) Float and Wear

This finish is float-capped at 0.80 rather than the full 1.0, so even Battle-Scarred — the top of its 0.06–0.80 range — never reaches the most extreme wear a normal skin can show. Expect heavy scuffing and broad finish loss across the body, but the wood grain stays legible thanks to that cap and its warm matte base.

Yes. Despite the heavy scuffing, the warm brown walnut grain keeps the skin clearly readable in-game — it never turns into an unrecognizable mess. Battle-Scarred is about accepting the most visible wear the finish offers in exchange for the lowest price, not losing the wood look entirely.

Why doesn't the Battle-Scarred version look completely destroyed?

Because the finish is capped at 0.80 rather than 1.0, its Battle-Scarred copies stop short of the extreme end of the wear scale. Paired with a warm matte grain that already hides damage well, the result is a grade that's clearly weathered but stays more legible than a full-range skin would at the same label.
